Cordless phones with talking caller ID come in many models with tons of features. Talking caller ID is a feature that has so many upsides. You no longer have to fumble for the handset or run to the base to see who is calling. Suppose you are watching a game on TV and you just do not want to take a call. The talking caller ID feature lets you keep your eyes on the game and tells you who is calling while you go on uninterrupted. This feature is also good for those who are blind or whose site is impaired. We picked our 5 with talking caller ID being main requirement. We also reviewed only phones that are at least 1.9 GHz.

5. Panasonic KX-TG9371B

DECT 6.0 Drop & Splash Resistant Expandable Digital Cordless Phone

Upon first sight, this phone is very appealing. The carbon fiber face of the handset is attractive and the design of the base is small and unobtrusive. Hooking the phone up was very easy and took less than 5 minutes from the time the box was opened until the handset was charging. A definite downside was the 7 hour initial charge time that is recommended. You can't give a techie a toy and expect her not to play with it for 7 hours! The unit is expandable to 6 handsets, which is a bonus if you have a large family. It also boasts shock resistance in case the headset is dropped, and water resistance in case the phone is splashed or rained on. The call clarity is the only thing that kept this phone in the number 5 position on our list. The clarity is not bad, but the other phones we picked are outstanding!

Ease of Use: 4/5
Call clarity: 3/5
Range: 3/5
Talk Time: 5 hours
Standby Time: 11 hours
Price range: $60-$80
Available at: Best Buy, Circuit City, Amazon.com

4. AT&T 5870 by vTech

5.8 GHz DSS Cordless Phone with Answering System and Talking Caller ID

The first thing you notice about this unit when you remove it from the box is that it takes up quite a bit of space. The base is quite large and somewhat heavy. The phone does feature programmable ringtones and an extended range. You can make calls outside the house and still hear the other party clearly without static or feedback. The unit is expandable to 6 headsets and even allows you to make calls from the base while the handset charges. The talking caller ID is loud and emits from the base as well as the handset. This is a feature we didn't find on many other models and it was a definite plus for this phone. The reason this phone ranks as number 4 on our list of the best cordless phones with talking caller ID is because although the phone has some good features, the weight of the handset and the lack of support from the manufacturer make this phone less attractive than it could be.

Ease of Use: 4/5
Call clarity: 4/5
Range: 4/5
Talk Time: 6 hours
Standby Time: 10.5 hours
Price range: $30-$50
Available at: eBay, AT&T Store

3. Panasonic KX-TG6052

5.8 GHz Expandable Cordless Phone

This phone is basic looking, but very functional. The unit comes with two handsets and has the capability to expand to four handsets. You can always count on clarity with this phone because it features voice enhancer technology. This unit also features a visual ringer so that hearing impaired individuals are able to see that the phone is ringing when the indicator flashes. The unit is wireless network compatible, meaning that it will not interfere with your wi-fi network. The reason this phone lands at number 2 on our list is because the call clarity is not comparable with the other models.

Ease of Use: 4/5
Call clarity: 3.5/5
Range: 4/5
Talk Time: 8 hours
Standby Time: 11 hours
Price range: $62
Available at: Circuit City

2. Uniden CEZAI998

Cordless Phone with Corded Phone on Main Unit

This phone looks like a very basic phone. The cordless handset's design may look a bit old fashioned, but the features it provides override the dated design. Of course it has talking caller ID or it wouldn't be on the list. The corded phone on the main unit is a huge plus since it allows you to use the phone in case of a power outage. The charging base is very small and can fit almost anywhere. The main unit and the handset both have large buttons that are easy to read and press. The phone also has a built in digital answering machine. The range is great and the sound clarity is impeccable. The price of this unit coupled with the features offered for this price make this our number 2 choice for the best cordless phones with talking caller ID. The reason this is not our number 1 choice is because the phone just doesn't have enough talk time.

Ease of Use: 5/5
Call clarity: 5/5
Range: 4/5
Talk Time: 7 hours
Standby Time: 14 hours
Price range: $80 - $100
Available at: Wal-Mart, Target, Amazon.com

1. Panasonic KX-TG5777PK

5.8 GHz Cordless Phone with 2 Handsets and Talking Caller ID

This phone truly stands alone. Not only is it more visually appealing, its features and compatibility help it stand out even more. The handsets feature a 1.5 inch high resolution color screens. The 5.8 GHz frequency means that it will not interfere with your home or office's wireless network. The clarity of this unit is as clear as any I've ever heard. There is no echo, feedback, static, or buzzing. This phone is completely silent as far as background noises are concerned. The unit boasts an extraordinary talk time and standby time as well. The unit even features a USB port for transferring pictures and ringtones to the handsets. This is the priciest phone on the list, but the features it offers along with its durability and reliability are well worth the price. This is definitely the best cordless phone with talking caller ID.
